Common donor sites include the\u00a0forearm (radial forearm flap), thigh (anterolateral thigh flap) and back (dorsal flap)<\/strong>. How realistic will my penis look after phalloplasty?<\/h3>\n

Phalloplasty for gender affirmation\u00a0aims to create a neopenis with a realistic appearance.<\/strong> The success in achieving this depends on the surgical technique, the skill of the surgeon, and the patient\u2019s healing process.<\/p>\n

To improve the appearance of the phallus\u00a0a series of\u00a0aesthetic treatments<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is available after phalloplasty aimed at achieving a phallus with a more appropriate colouring and vein structures.\u00a0One of the most popular treatments is often phallus micropigmentation, which imitates the aesthetic structures of a natural penis.<\/p>\n

SEXUAL FUNCTION AND SENSITIVITY<\/h2>\n

After phalloplasty, will I have sensitivity in my penis?<\/h3>\n

The sensitivity of the penis can be divided into two components: on the one hand, we have\u00a0sensitivity to touch,<\/strong> heat and pain \u2013 that is, the sensitivity we have in any body part. On the other hand, we have\u00a0erogenous sensitivity,<\/strong> specific to certain parts of the body, such as the penis or clitoris. Both sensitivities are present after phalloplasty. The first, thanks to the union of a nerve from the phallus to one of the nerves in the leg. The second, thanks to the union of a nerve from the trans man\u2019s penis to a nerve from the clitoris.<\/p>\n

However, this sensitivity is not present at first.\u00a0You must wait for a period of approximately 6\u20138 months for full sensory recovery.<\/strong> A \u201clearning\u201d period is also necessary for the brain to identify the nerve stimulus as coming from the penis.<\/p>\n

Can I have penetrative sex after phalloplasty?<\/h3>\n

After phalloplasty, the rigidity of the trans man\u2019s phallus does not allow penetrative sex. It is too flaccid and, while some patients report having had penetrative sex, it is not possible to maintain sexual relations.\u00a0This requires a second operation<\/strong>\u00a0to implant a penile prosthesis so as to provide the necessary rigidity.<\/p>\n

Before proceeding with this second procedure, the patient must have regained sensation in the penis. Once this second procedure is carried out, the patient will be able to have normal intercourse.<\/p>\n

Will I be able to reach orgasm after phalloplasty?<\/h3>\n

The penis after phalloplasty\u00a0has full erogenous sensitivity<\/strong>\u00a0so that it can indeed receive sexual pleasure and reach orgasm quite normally.<\/p>\n
