Calf augmentation

Calf augmentation is a procedure designed to add volume to your calf area. This surgery contours the shape of your legs, giving them a more feminine, sensual appearance.

WHAT IS CALF AUGMENTATION?

Several calf augmentation techniques exist, which are customised according to the trans woman’s needs and characteristics. Thus, we can perform calf augmentation using implants, lipotransfer (the patient’s own fat) or via a combination of both techniques, known as the mixed or hybrid technique. All of these techniques aim to give the trans woman’s legs a harmonious, beautiful, contoured shape.

THE CALF AUGMENTATION

Before surgery

The technique of calf augmentation was developed with the aim of correcting any congenital malformation in the legs, whether due to genetics, disease or injury.

This type of surgery is also used to achieve greater calf volume and contour in people who, despite doing sport, have not achieved more defined legs. Augmenting your calves gives you beautiful, contoured legs.

Surgery

Calf augmentation is a relatively short surgery that can be performed using three techniques. The use of one or the other will depend both on your legs and what you want to achieve with this surgery.

There are three possible techniques:

  • Augmentation using implants: The surgery involves inserting a cohesive silicone gel implant between the muscle and the skin through a small incision in the back of the knee. This gives your calves a nice volume.
  • Fat augmentation: The fat is obtained by liposuction from other areas of your body and, once prepared, is infiltrated into the area using a very fine cannula. It is a technique that gives a nice shape, but it is not used to achieve a large volume.
  • Mixed-technique augmentation: In this case a combination of implant and fat is used. While the prosthesis gives us the necessary volume, fat allows us to model areas where the implant does not reach, such as the ankle area.

Your surgeon will evaluate all the options according to your characteristics and medical history before advising you on one of the techniques.

The anaesthesia used for calf augmentation depends on each patient’s circumstances. However, your surgeon will use either general anaesthesia (for example, when combined with other surgery) or epidural or local anaesthesia with sedation (when performed alone).

Calf augmentation surgery lasts approximately one to one and a half hours. It usually requires an overnight stay. This procedure increases your legs’ volume and reshapes their contours, giving your calves a naturally more masculine shape. This enhances your leg profile, giving it a more muscular appearance.

THE RESULTS OF CALF AUGMENTATION

The results

The results are excellent and can be seen immediately, although you will need to wait for the swelling to go down to appreciate their volume and definitive shape.

After surgery, you will be able to show off contoured, beautiful, slender legs that look totally natural.
