NON-BINARY GENDER SURGERY IN MADRID AND BARCELONA

Based on our experience and various studies, the most requested non-binary surgery is top surgery or breast surgery, especially in non-binary people who were identified as female at birth. In these cases, the sought-after non-binary top surgery is bilateral subcutaneous mastectomy. This surgery is designed to completely remove breast tissue and excess skin in both breasts. In addition, the nipple and areola are repositioned to achieve a flat chest that is not identifiable as female.

Although not as common, some non-binary trans people who were identified as male at birth request breast augmentation to bring their physical appearance into line with their gender identity. This usually requires the use of breast implants and custom-designed surgery to achieve the volume, projection, shape and contour that the non-binary person desires.

OUR RANGE OF NON-BINARY SURGERY

Non-binary surgery is a set of surgical procedures intended to align a person’s physical features with their non-binary gender identity. Unlike binary gender affirming operations, non-binary surgery is distinguished by its individualised approach that is tailored to the diversity of everyone’s gender experiences.

And because every experience is unique, at IM GENDER we offer a wide variety of non-binary surgery, the goal of which is to accommodate the individual needs of each non-binary person who wishes to undergo gender surgery.

Non-binary top surgery: Non-binary top surgery is the most in-demand surgery among non-binary people, especially bilateral subcutaneous mastectomy, which basically involves removing breast tissue and repositioning the nipple-areola complex to achieve a flatter and more neutral-looking chest. There are also non-binary people who request breast augmentation to align their body with their felt gender.
Vaginectomy: Vaginectomy is the surgical technique for removing the vagina. It may be part of other surgery such as phalloplasty or hysterectomy. Some non-binary trans people request it as part of their transition.
Zero-depth vaginoplasty: This involves creating a vaginal opening that is not connected to the pelvic cavity, in other words without a vaginal tunnel, in non-binary trans people who were born with a penis. It’s designed to align anatomy with gender identity.
Vulvoplasty: This non binary bottom surgery focuses on creating labia and a clitoris without forming the vaginal canal. It’s a shorter option with less risk to adjacent structures, such as the rectum.
Hysterectomy: This involves removing the uterus and is usually accompanied by removal of the ovaries as well.
Orchidectomy: This surgery consists in removing the testicles through a scrotal incision, stopping testosterone production and allowing oestrogen doses to be reduced.
Scrotectomy, which removes the scrotal sac, is usually performed at the same time. If a subsequent non-binary vaginoplasty is planned, it’s vital to discuss this with the surgeon, as scrotal skin is often used in vaginoplasty.
Non-binary penectomy: Is the removal of the penis for non-binary individuals who do not identify strictly as male or female. Unlike transgender penectomy that aim to create male or female genitalia, a non-binary penectomy focuses on removing the penis without necessarily constructing a vagina.
Facial surgery: Using surgical procedures, we adapt the person’s facial features to achieve an appearance that is more in line with their gender identity. The aim is to achieve a well-balanced, natural and proportional face that represents your identity.
Body surgery: Non-binary body surgery encompasses a variety of procedures designed to tailor physical features to the individual’s needs. This includes fat redistribution, body shaping and adjustment of features such as the abdomen, waist and hips. This may include procedures such as liposuction and abdominoplasty, among others.
Voice surgery: When specialised speech therapy does not achieve the results we are looking for, voice surgery can adjust the pitch and timbre of the voice, making it feel more authentic and in line with your gender identity.
Hair transplant: Another possible procedure to align your physical appearance with your gender identity is transplantation, as hair loss or the shape that the hairline makes on the face can impact personal perception. This technique involves transferring hair follicles from donor areas to areas that require them to align physical appearance with felt gender.
Aesthetic medicine: We offer non-surgical procedures that perfect and enhance features, such as dermal fillers, treatments to improve skin quality, and facial and body hair removal, among other facial and body treatments.
